Fruché

Fruché is a fashion designer who combines traditional Nigerian culture, heritage, artisanal techniques and contemporary design.

The brand aims to explore rich, historical, radical, futuristic and modern progressive stories that challenge the notion that Nigerian/African women and men are expected to look and dress a certain way.

The Challenge

Building an e-commerce store for Fruché involved addressing several technical challenges. The platform needed to effectively showcase Fruché’s unique fusion of traditional Nigerian culture and contemporary design. This required a highly customizable theme that could highlight the intricate details of the fashion pieces through high-resolution image galleries, interactive lookbooks, and embedded video content.

The Solution

Integrating a robust content management system (CMS) was essential for the brand’s dynamic storytelling approach. This included custom post types for blog entries, collections, designer notes, and historical context sections that could be easily updated by Fruché’s team. Additionally, I incorporated WooCommerce for the e-commerce functionality, ensuring secure payment gateways, streamlined checkout processes, and efficient inventory management. The site was optimized for mobile responsiveness, reflecting the growing trend of mobile shopping, and included multilingual support to cater to an international audience. Scalability was also a key consideration, so the site was built with a modular architecture, allowing for easy addition of new features and collections as the brand evolves.
